Pilates Etiquette – How it works

In a Classical Pilates studio, we try to create an environment, that is similar to the studio environment, that Joe and Clara Pilates used to work in. This means, that there are several students and instructors working and working out at the same time.

The energy and flow that such a shared workout space creates is just amazing. Everybody has the chance to learn from each other which will give you a benefit that is hard to duplicate.

Like every sport has their own rules, so does Pilates. In order to fully enjoy and experience your workout in this Classical Pilates environment, please follow the guidelines listed below:

Pilates Etiquette:

Z

Switch your cellphones to silent mode while in the studio.

Z

Keep your voice down - asking questions is always welcome, but keep the volume down in order not to distract others form their workout.

Z

Please wear proper sports attire - you will most likely get sweaty, and moving is so much easier in sportswear.

Z

Please refrain from wearing clothes with zippers or buttons. It will scratch the equipment which will make it look very sad.

Z

The same is true for jewelry. The studio provides cups to place your jewelry while working out - not only do these scratch our equipment, but they can also become a potential safety hazard for you.

Z

Your feet are very important in the Pilates workout. We will focus a lot on their health and alignment. In order to “feel” your feet right, be prepared to either work out barefoot or with Toe socks (those are sold at the studio, in case you need a pair).

Z

The studio is a no shoes area - please take your shoes off upon arrival - the studio provides cubbies for your shoes and all your other stuff to place in.

Z

Plan on arriving at least 10 mins prior to your lesson - this will give you some extra time to get prepared.

Z

As a reminder - we do have a 24 hour late cancel policy. If you have to cancel or reschedule, please do so on time or we’ll have to charge the full amount of your lesson.

Z

Please, no food in the studio area, but bring your water bottle - hydration is important!

Z

Please clean up each of your equipment after use - set everything back to the way you found it - this way it’s ready for the next person to use.
